HEARD’s aim is to shape public health policy and practice in order to reduce health inequalities in Africa and to improve the reach, comprehensiveness and quality of health services delivery throughout the region.
Overview
We are looking for post-doctoral researchers to join work within our four programmes/areas of focus: Public Health Governance and Financing; Health Systems Strengthening; Disability, Health and Livelihoods; Gender Equality and Health; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
The purpose of the postdoctoral award is to enable the Postdoctoral Research Scholar to engage in a period of uninterrupted research. The successful candidate/s will be based at HEARD, Durban, South Africa for the duration of the scholarship. Scholars are expected to engage in full-time postdoctoral studies on an approved research programme under the supervision of a senior research staff member.
Candidates who have obtained Doctorate degrees in Economics, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Psychology, Public Health or related fields are urged to apply.
Scholarships are awarded to a competitive basis, taking into account the applicants academic achievements.
Minimum requirements:
- A doctoral degree obtained in the last three years. Under exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to candidates who qualified in the last five years
- One publication over the last three years
- A driver’s license.
