World Vision Position Announcement- Technical Lead, OVC USIAD “Karabo ea Bophelo” Activity

World Vision is seeking a strong candidate for a Technical Lead, OVC position for the USAID “Karabo ea Bophelo” activity based in Lesotho. “Karabo ea Bophelo” is a five-year USAID-funded activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho.

Based in Lesotho, the Technical Lead OVC will be responsible for the technical oversight of the OVC components of the Activity, including work planning and reporting. S/he will oversee all OVC activities in collaboration with other technical leads. S/he will also guide the care and support provided to children and adolescents living with HIV enrolled in the project. S/he will report directly to the COP/CD and support the COP/CD in providing technical direction to project implementation and ensure that the OVC results are met. S/he will ensure strong linkages with all other project components.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in social sciences, social work, child development, education or related field.

  • At least 8 years of experience designing, implementing and managing OVC projects of similar scope and size (nation-wide); with experience in Lesotho and with PEPFAR and/or USAID is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing programs that address the needs of vulnerable children and adolescents, adolescents living with HIV, OVC caregiver support, economic strengthening, child protection, violence against children, case management, early childhood development, OVC policy and advocacy.

  • Demonstrated skills in project reporting, preferably for PEPFAR-funded OVC programs

  • Familiarity with Lesotho’s institutional, policy and programming context for OVC.

Opportunity at REPSSI - Director of The Africa Psychosocial Support Institute (APSSI)

The Africa Psychosocial Support Institute (APSSI) is a subsidiary of REPSSI. APSSI fosters professionalism and excellence in Mental Health and Psychosocial care and support (MHPSS). This includes the need for standardised PSS definitions, quality research on PSS, excellent PSS resources and MHPSS thought leadership in Africa.

APSSI consists of two arms; (1) Develop and deliver innovative and accredited PSS skills development programmes and qualifications, lead research in mental and psychosocial wellbeing in Africa, stimulate thought leadership in child and adolescent mental health and psychosocial support, develop PSS resources and provide an accreditation service for PSS organizations, programmes and professionals. In this regard, APSSI will coordinate with higher academic institutions in the continent. (2) Raise funds through developing, marketing and providing a range of consultancy services. The Director of APSSI provides strategic leadership to both arms of the Institute.

To be based in Randburg, Johannesburg, the APSSI Director will attract income from a variety of sources of a sufficient level that the Institute will become self-sustaining, and provide an income for REPSSI, after the initial two-year period. The Director will report directly to the REPSSI CEO and APSSI Board of Directors and have direct line-management responsibility for the following functions: Academic programmes;; Marketing and consultancy services; Product development; and Corporate affairs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Masters degree in Social Sciences, Education or Management or relevant field; 3 years’ senior management experience, including sales and service functions; Strategic leadership; Experienced team leader research and publications ; Proven ability to secure significant funding.
